Laser Body Tattoo Removal

Prep & Aftercare

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

• Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks before treatment. The treatment area should not be sunburned or freshly tanned.

• Do not use self-tanner on the treatment area for at least 1–2 weeks beforehand.

• Keep the skin healthy and intact. We cannot treat over open wounds, active rashes, infections, or significantly irritated skin.

• Avoid irritating skincare products such as retinoids, exfoliating acids, or scrubs on the treatment area for approximately 5–7 days before your appointment.

• Shave the area if needed. If there is significant body hair over the tattoo, shave approximately 24 hours before treatment. Do not wax or pluck.

• Come with clean skin. Do not apply lotion, body oil, deodorant, makeup, or other products directly over the tattoo on the day of treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT

Temporary redness, swelling, warmth, tenderness, whitening/frosting, pinpoint bleeding, bruising, or small blisters can occur following laser tattoo removal. These reactions vary depending on the tattoo, pigment, treatment settings, and individual skin response.

The tattoo may initially look darker, lighter, or temporarily more noticeable before fading occurs.

AFTERCARE

• Keep the area clean and dry. Gently cleanse as instructed and avoid aggressive rubbing or scrubbing.

• Apply a thin layer of recommended healing ointment if advised by your provider.

• Do not pick, scratch, peel, or pop blisters. Allow the skin to heal naturally to reduce the risk of scarring or pigment changes.

• Avoid excessive heat and friction while the area is healing, including hot tubs, saunas, very hot showers, and strenuous activities that heavily irritate the treated area.

• Avoid swimming until the skin has fully closed and any blistering or irritation has resolved.

• Protect the area from the sun. Once the skin has healed enough for sunscreen, use SPF 30–50+ and minimize direct UV exposure.

• Wear loose, breathable clothing if the tattoo is in an area that may rub against clothing.

HEALING & RESULTS

The surface of the skin may settle relatively quickly, but your body continues processing fragmented tattoo pigment for several weeks after treatment.

Laser tattoo removal requires multiple sessions. The number of treatments varies depending on the tattoo's color, depth, density, age, location, ink composition, previous treatments, and your body's individual response.

For your safety and best results, always allow the area to fully heal between sessions and follow the treatment schedule recommended by your laser provider.
