PicoWay Laser — Brow Tattoo & Lip Blushing tattoo Removal-Preparation, After-Care & Treatment Recommendations

How to Prepare for Your PicoWay PMU Removal Appointment
Arrive with clean skin
-
Do not apply makeup, brow pencil, lip balm, moisturizer, oils, sunscreen, or tinted products on the area being treated.
-
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner (1–2 weeks prior)
-
Untanned skin allows PicoWay to target pigment more safely and effectively and helps reduce irritation.
-
Discontinue active skincare (below) (5–7 days before treatment)
Avoid using on or around the treatment area:

-
Retinol / retinoids
-
AHA / BHA acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic)
-
Benzoyl peroxide
-
Vitamin C
-
Exfoliants, scrubs, or resurfacing products
Avoid waxing, threading, tinting, henna, or brow grooming (1 week prior)
-
Brows: no tinting, lamination, or makeup
-
Lips: no exfoliation or aggressive lip scrubs
Avoid Botox or fillers near the treatment area
-
Brows: wait at least 2 weeks after Botox/Dysport
-
Lips: wait at least 4 weeks after lip filler (Juvederm, Restylane, etc.)
Cold sore history (lip blush removal only)
If you have a history of cold sores, please let us know ahead of time, as laser heat can sometimes trigger an outbreak.
Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (24 hours before)
If medically permitted.
Hydration matters
Well-hydrated skin responds better to treatment and supports smoother healing.

What to Expect After Treatment

It is normal to experience:
-
Mild redness
-
Slight swelling (especially on lips)
-
Whitening or “frosting” of pigment
-
Warmth or tightness
-
Temporary darkening before the pigment begins to lighten

These responses are expected and show that the laser is working with the pigment.

Cooling & Comfort

-
Use a cool compress (no direct ice) for 10–15 minutes as needed
-
Apply a thin layer of healing ointment if recommended (Aquaphor, A&D, or similar)
-
Avoid heavy, oily, or scented products for 24–48 hours
Area-Specific Aftercare
Lips (Lip Blushing Removal):
-
Keep lips lightly moisturized with a gentle ointment
-
Do not pick or peel
-
Drink through a straw if lips feel tender
-
Avoid spicy, acidic, or very hot foods for 24 hours
Brows:
-
Keep the area dry for 24 hours
-
Avoid brow makeup for 48–72 hours
-
Do not pick at flaking pigment

Sun Protection

-
Avoid direct sun exposure for 7–10 days
-
Apply SPF 50+ once the skin is calm enough for sunscreen
-
No tanning beds or self-tanner for at least 1 week

Daily SPF use is one of the best habits for maintaining healthy skin long term.

Products to Avoid (3–5 days post-treatment)

-
Retinol / retinoids
-
AHA / BHA acids
-
Benzoyl peroxide
-
Exfoliating scrubs
-
Strong active skincare or chemical peels

Resume normal skincare once the skin has returned to baseline.

Activity Restrictions

-
Avoid heavy sweating, gym workouts, sauna, steam rooms, and hot yoga for 24–48 hours
-
Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for 48 hours
-
Do not scrub, peel, or exfoliate the treated area

Recommended Treatment Plan (PMU Removal)

Treatment interval
-
Brows & Lip Blushing: every 4–6 weeks

-
This timing allows the pigment to gradually break down and clear between sessions while keeping the skin healthy and protected.
-
Typical number of sessions: 1–3+ sessions
-
Results vary based on pigment type, depth, and individual skin response. As the pigment begins to break down, temporary warmer tones—such as soft orange or red hues—may appear. This is a normal part of the fading process.
-
Follow-up sessions allow progressive lightening and refinement of the remaining pigment in a controlled, customized way until the desired result is achieved safely
